Melbourne, Australia

Melbourne is a really nice city!  I thoroughly enjoyed my day here!  We exited the ship and promptly got on their public transportation - a light rail system is what I’m used to calling it but I have no idea what they call it.   It and the town were unbelievably clean and easy to get around.

Just off Collins Street

I found Collins Street, the main street through the city where all the main shopping occurs, and spent many hours meandering about.  The architecture in this city is really beautiful and so I made my way to go see St. Patrick’s Cathedral Church, The Parliament Building, the State Library, and many other lovely buildings.  I then went on to the famous Queen Victoria Market, an outdoor market with rows and rows and rows and rows of clothes, shoes, souvenirs, and food.  I then worked my way over to the Yarra River and walked along its banks, passing by the National Gallery and Art Museum, landing myself at the Rod Laver Arena where the Australian Open is played.

After all of that walking, I worked my way back to city center and found my way over to the Fitzroy Gardens and meandered a bit.   It was then time to head back to Collins Street, get on the public transportation, and head back to the ship for a few hours of resting by the pool.

Today is my last sea day (and last CME lecture day) and tomorrow I arrive in Sydney where I will be staying for 2 nights.
