Akaroa, New Zealand

Hello all from Akaroa!!  I have successfully navigated Boston to SF, SF to Auckland, and then Auckland to Christchurch.  After finding my rental car and repeating STAY ON THE LEFT many times to myself, I drove to the small French town of Akaroa on Banks Peninsula, a little over an hour outside of Christchurch.  It is BEAUTIFUL here!!!

After walking around Akaroa, eating lunch overlooking the water, and generally just decompressing from all the traveling, I went off to find my B&B, Coombe Farm.  It is absolutely lovely here with meandering paths, flowers and gardens everywhere, views of the Harbor, and a wonderful hostess, Katherine (who's been on vacation to Woodstock, VT ~ small world!!).  Marshall has already found his way into the house, which was very entertaining for me!! :  )

The rest of the day consists of exploring the town some more, finding a nice place to have dinner, a run along the grounds at Coombe Farm, and an early night to bed!  Tomorrow:  Christchurch!

  1. Adrienne-It's so beautiful and peaceful looking! The pictures are perfect at providing me with a visual of where you are. My six year old grandaughter Emma and I are following your journey on a map. She recently has shown interest in the global world outside of West Lebanon, N.H.! This will be a tangible way for me to show her how big and small the world is after all. Thank you! Peace and love-Rhonda
P.S.-I'd be happy to overseas mail any items you are in need of. I have some experience with this. Three months can be a long time to plan ahead!
